Summer vacation to Lake Starnberg and Berchtesgaden, where a Champ progeny and a Bella progeny is living

For almost two years, "Hundemama" hasn't had a longer vacation due to COVID and also due to the raising of Barrett puppies. Now it turned out that "Hundemama" and Champ were invited on a vacation by two "Barrett owners". Both stays were very relaxing. Champ also behaved confidently towards the four-legged friends living there. He got along great with his son from the last Bacira litter. The little one respected his Dad, especially when Dad had something to chew on.

The weather was not that nice in the first week, but that didn’t prevent "Hundemama" from taking a bike tour along Lake Starnberg with Champ every day on a selected 12 km long route. There were a few breaks in between, which Champ used to swim. The water was crystal clear, just wonderful.

Her son Jason also came to visit on the first weekend. Together with him and the hosts, a walk was then on the plan. All in all, the days were nice and, above all, relaxing.

After about a week and exactly at the time when the weather got better, it was time to say goodbye.

Then she drove on to Berchtesgaden. We have known the hosts for more than 17 years, meanwhile a friendship has developed; At that time their first Barrett moved in. After almost 15 years their Barrett female passed away and exactly a year ago it was that time again. Another Barrett, this time a male puppy named "Mogli", a son from our Bella - for whom we also have the sister "Mina" - enriched the family again.

In the meantime "Mogli" has developed into a handsome young dog. Since our Bella has been taken out of breeding, we are happy to own little "Mina" ourselves. We will introduce this young female and her siblings on our homepage in the coming months.

Since "Mogli" has now become a youngster which is full of engergy, the meeting between Champ and "Mogli" had to be carried out carefully and outside of home. It took about a day for both males to get used to each other and to respect each other without any fights. Normally two adult male dogs do not get along that easy, especially when it is a stud dog like Champ. But since Champ is a so-called "beta animal", the gathering went well. The prerequisite is of course that the young male is not an alpha animal. If that were the case, fights are often inevitable.

Of course, Champ attracted attention again because he is such a big and masculine male and he jumped on the lap of every two-legged friend. As already described in previous announcements on the occasion of a litter, Champ often behaves like a lap dog. Sometimes it was quite funny, especially at dinner; then he crept into all the hearts of those present, including the waiters.

During this holiday week, Champ not only got to know the mountains on walks. No, there was even a gondola ride, which he managed straight away without any problems. Once at the top, we went on a long walk back down into the valley.

"Hundemama" was also introduced to something new, namely a bike tour up the mountain - about 1000 m high - with the e-bike. That was a challenge and "Hundemama" has to admit that she reached her limits on this trip. Not to mention getting off from the bike while riding up the mountain, that's not possible, because it is not so easy to get back on your bike again without rolling back down. No matter how difficult it was, she finally made it and was rewarded with a refreshing drink at the top of the alpine hut. In the end, this bike tour was so much fun that "Hundemama" could imagine doing another bike tour up the mountain on her next vacation in the mountains - that's sure to come - again.

Unfortunately, every vacation comes to an end.

While creating this page, "Hundemama" doesn't want to miss to thank her two hosts - friends - again, who made it possible for her to experience such beautiful and relaxing days in the mountains - which for her is simply a dream world.

In the meantime, she has returned home healthy and relaxed. Now she can devote herself to all of her four-legged friends again with freshly recharged energy.

For the coming months she has decided to open a new page for her young female "Mina" and her siblings here on the webpage and to prepare "Mina" for the BH trial and - if nature wants it - to raise new Barrett puppies soon again. You will find more information on this on our "upcoming litter" page at the end of September. But before that, there are some beautiful pictures that were taken during the vacation. Some of them have already been published on facebook.

But a page of this beautiful vacation in the mountains should not be missing here on the webpage

We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures below!

Champ, behind him a wonderful scenery

Everyone should wake up to this view

Sunset on Lake Starnberg

Dad and son are waiting for breakfast

Champ found antlers. Qinto watches him longingly

But he doesn't dare to try to take it away from him

Champ enjoys the lake one more time before continuing to Berchtesgaden

After an approx. 2 hour drive, Hundemama arrived in beautiful Berchtesgaden

Every morning Hundemama together with her friend

went to the bakery to get the famous German buns for breakfast. Champ and Mogli enjoyed the Village fountain

During the bike ride we passed the Königssee

then steadily ascending into the mountains; to the left a view of the Königssee

This piece of earth invites you to linger

Dagmar made it!

A short stop on the way back and just enjoy the scenery

Here we see Mogli and Champ playing with this young man and wet towels. Champ soon discovered the fountain for himself - view above -

During a midday walk

On the way up with the gondola

Sam grew up in the mountains. For him, gondola rides are nothing new. It was different for Champ. But he mastered the journey very well

Every small water opportunity is used to cool off on the way into the valley

At the last dinner; Champ looks a little sad. He probably didn't want to say goodbye either!

Do not worry! We will definitely be back!
